The Power of the Multiverse

The Multiverse has been a Comic Book trope for decades.  The freedom to have several timelines for stories to unfold involving the same Superheroes provides a rich environment for storytelling.  The concept is familiar to those in the Pop-Culture world, but hasn't really been explored in mainstream entertainment until now.

Doctor Strange in the MCU demonstrated the ability to see thousands of outcomes for one event in Avengers: Endgame.  This talent will be central to the plot of Doctor Strange 2: In The Multiverse of Madness & most likely Spider-Man: No Way Home.  But this storytelling superpower is not limited to Marvel. DC Comics has been utilizing it just as long and Warner Brothers / DCEU are expected to use it for The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.  The Matt Reeves helmed Batman movie will take place on Earth-2, while The Flash, Aquaman, Supergirl & others will proceed on an independent timeline.  Expect to see multiple versions of characters going forward since HBO Max and DC Films can coexist as multiverses for Superman, Black Adam and their SuperFriends.
